Christoffer Carlsson: Blaze me a sun, Hogarth/ Penguin Random House US, 9780593595633, large paperback
( DEUTSCH: Was ans Licht kommt, Rowohlt)
I am normally not a big fan of Nordic thrillers who often have a dark atmosphere. But Christoffer Carlsson's " Blaze me a sun" is so much more than a thriller, an excellent portrait of complex relationsships within families, in this case particularly father/son conflicts, and small town communities, topped by an ingenious plot which I certainly did not see coming.
The writing has an almost literary quality, short, crisp, clear sentences and characters whose complexity still resonate. An unusual, very fine thriller which i loved reading and can only wholeheartedly recommend.
